Research at the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine

Our research in the domain of oncology encompasses preclinical development and evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals for theranostic applications and their clinical translation.

In the clinical context we aim to optimize positron-emission-tomography (PET) performance for prostate, head&neck, pancreas, brain, and lung cancer.

Other than oncology applications, we place emphasis on neuroscience research, which extends from preclinical studies of brain binding sites to clinical PET investigations in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer`s disease, Parkinson`s disease, and atypical parkinsonian syndromes.

In support of disease staging and differential diagnosis, we avail ourselves of sophisticated post-processing tools with the implementation of artificial intelligence and support of novel deep learning algorithms.
